Steve M. Zalazowski, Sr.
Salinas EIRB DojoCho (Head Instructor)
Steve Zalazowski, Sr. is the DojoCho (Head Instructor) of SalinasEIRB. He began studying the sword under the personal direction of Julio Toribio, Daijo Shihan in January of 2019, and earned his Shodan in October 2020.
Steve earned his Nidan – 2nd Degree Black Belt in June of 2021 and Sandan 3rd Degree Black Belt in September 2023. He continues to learn and grow in this fantastic martial art.

Steve has been directly involved in multiple systems/styles of martial arts since December 1998, and to date has earned black belt rankings in 7 different lineages, with teaching credentials in 4. You can learn more about Steve on the UMASDA, Inc. website biography section.
Steve has dedicated his martial arts career to creating the Instructor Corps for UMASDA of the future. There will always be a need for self defense training, and exploring the various lineages of martial arts has been Steve’s passion in life for over two decades. He firmly believes that knowledge has no value unless it is shared, which creates incumbent the requirement to develop the next generation of Instructors to take his organization into the future.

David Chavez holds Nidan, 2nd Degree Black Belt in Enshin Itto Ryu Battojutsu and Chuden in another sword art.
Alberto Roman – Senpai
Alberto Roman, Senpai has been a UMASDA Student Body member since 2017. Initially training in PJMS™, he discovered there were other lineages of material available at UMASDA™. One of these is the Sword art taught by Mr. Zalazowski called Enshin Itto-Ryu Battojutsu.
Alberto is the first person at UMASDA to start at White Belt and be promoted to Green, Brown, and 1st Degree Black Belt level in this Art. Alberto is an Instructor Trainee and enjoys helping others learn every chance he gets.
